modflowers makes dolls, small textile creatures and other creations using fabrics from the past, with a nostalgic nod to the joy and playfulness of childhood and a love of quirky contemporary design.
A long-time vintage fabric collector, I have been stitching since childhood using both old-fashioned handwork (embroidery, patchwork, detailed hand-stitching) and modern techniques such as machine embroidery and appliqué, to create things that make people smile.
My work celebrates the whimsical, with clashing colours and bold florals that defy grey British weather and create something joyful and new from the old and forgotten.
Everything I make showcases the beautiful fabrics of the past that fill me with joy and send my heart a-flutter.
Sharing the joy via commissions is part of the fun. Be it doll or creature, cushion or quilt, garland or wallhanging, appliqué or patchwork, if you would like to discuss a custom make, please get in touch via my contact page.

There are many other fabulous fabrics in my cabinet in addition to those pictured here.
I also use authentic vintage buttons and trims to add a unique touch.
As I use genuine vintage fabrics, most dating from the 1960s and 70s, do bear in mind that all fabrics are available in only limited quantities – and I have only very small quantities of some of them. Before setting your heart on something in particular, please get in touch to check availability.
I am, of course, also happy to use your own fabrics – be they new or vintage – or to combine vintage and new in any project. ♥
