I apologise for the lack of bloggy activity around these parts for the past fortnight or so.

I did take my laptop on holiday. And I did take photographs. And when we left, I did have the intention of writing a blog post or two whilst I was away.

I could lie and say we didn’t have wifi.

But the truth is, I just took a holiday.

I spent my time with my two best boys, yomping (as best my creaky old knees would allow me to yomp, anyway) up hills and along cliff-top paths, playing ping-pong on the beach, reading novels, troughing my way through fried breakfasts, pasties and the odd cream tea, and marvelling at fantastic scenery.

Devon and Cornwall was so fantastic and busy and fun-filled that I didn’t feel like blogging about it. I just felt like living every wide-awake, wind-blown, sunny, happy, laughing, lovely second of it.

I’m home now though.

And despite my blogging muscles feeling severely flabby and out of shape, I really wanted to share some lovely things that will forever remind me of a morning on the beach spent with lovely Welsh Mountain Sue, an internet friend who just happened to be on holiday in the same place at the same time.

We met, and chatted, and she gave me not one, but two packages of modflowery things…

I’ve only just opened the second one, containing this amazing bedspread.

Plus – a Jackie annual: my pre-teenage reading matter of choice, with which I got reacquainted over breakfast. I find it hilariously difficult to believe that I ever was inclined to read it for real, but, apparently, I was.

Gosh, I feel old. And simultaneously very glad I am no longer that callow youth, obsessed with boys and spots.

Also in my packages was this lovely, colourful vintage teatowel, depicting pretty birds and a slightly sad/grumpy pink cat…

And some slightly more subtle and beautiful vintage goodies…

I was stunned at Sue’s generosity.

Meeting her, and feeling so generously blessed, was just one of the many highlights of my holiday.

And so I return home on a high.

Ready to face the end of summer with plenty of warm memories, to see me through the cold to come. ♥

I apologise for the lack of bloggy activity around these parts for the past fortnight or so.
