Day five of my stash stories. Something for the sunny summer days.

A fabric a day from my stash, with it’s story.

Today’s fabric was a lucky, lucky acquisition.

It was sent to me as part of a swap with the lovely Georgina Giles, maker of dinosaurs and monsters… It’s actually the remains of a child’s skirt, as you can see from the curved hemline…

Oh how I wish that skirt had been mine! I would never have taken it off, let alone cut it up!

But nothing so perfect ever entered my childhood wardrobe, as far as I remember.

My favourite – and grooviest – childhood wardrobe item was probably this (turquoise) corduroy frock:

That’s me at the age of about four, on the bench outside West Bridgford Library, where my dad used to take me occasionally on a Saturday morning.

I liked the mezzanine children’s section – I could go up there on my own whilst my dad chose his books and spy on the other punters below and try to drop tiny bits of balled up paper on their heads without them noticing.

My mum was responsible for my haircut.

And my corduroy shoes… now you don’t see those very often nowadays, do you?

I had wanted red patent platforms. ♥

Day five of my stash stories. Something for the sunny summer days.
