I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again…

I’m definitely a better starter than a finisher.

Today I should have been cracking on with making stuff for my shop and my stalls.

I have lots to do. Including lots of stuff on the go that needs finishing off, and three commissions awaiting my attention.

But the sun was shining, the day was bright and young, and an idea I had had brewing for a while took root. So off I went… on a trim hunt!

For I had heard tell of a shop around these parts, a marvellous shop, almost mythical in its cheapness and range, from which the nicest of trims and notions and haberdashery items may be purchased.

And it was reputedly not far from me, this emporium of wonders.

Just up the road, in fact. In Arnold. It’s called Boyes.

So I went to seek it out. Because I wanted some trim for my owls.

As you can see, I found the perfect selection.

I liked Boyes. It has a distinctly old-fashioned feel to it. It’s a bit like a cross between Wilkinsons and Grace Brothers. Upstairs, where the haberdashery is, is sort of like the shop that time forgot.

And it sells great trims. I love the flowers, and the bobbly stuff. I’d have had some pink stuff too, but some of the bobbles were a bit grubby. (Perhaps it had been in stock for a while).

Anyway, I went home and got bobbly with my latest owl cushion.

(His eyes aren’t sewn on yet, just pinned, which is why he looks a bit… unfocussed)

I’m not sure why, but I keep thinking of him as “the circus owl”…

I think it’s something to do with those bobbles.

It’s amazing what a difference a bit of trim makes. ♥

I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… I’m definitely a better starter than a finisher.
