back to mine

modflowers: back to mineI found out something on Friday.

I have been so busy enjoying myself working with Sarah Campbell’s fabrics over the past few weeks, that I had almost forgotten about my own.

But I hadn’t forgotten that I have a couple of Christmas events coming up – and not a lot made to sell at them. In fact, I’ve had a couple of mini-panics about it recently.

So you could say that it has been on my mind that I’d better start fitting in some more making…

When I ran out of what I needed to make what I should have been making on Friday, it seemed the perfect opportunity.

To make something else, not with Sarah’s fabrics, but to get back to mine.

And this be-hatted munchkin is what resulted…

modflowers: back to mineIt was nice getting reacquainted with my fabrics.

And I have been dying to find an excuse to use that wonderful neon pink felt (bought from local emporium and stockist of my makes Bee & Bird.)

It seems to sing just perfectly next to a snippet of charity shop neon orange stuff, some pretty prints from my collection, and a scrap from an old linen traycloth.

In fact, I liked her so much, I made her a couple of friends…

modflowers: felt hatted dollsTheir eyes are just pins at the moment.

But instead of embroidering or painting them in, I have ordered some little glass doll eyes, just as an experiment. We shall see how they go.

And whilst I’m waiting for them to arrive, I’ll get back to my making. ♥

  1. I was going to say how much I enjoyed the beady gaze of these new characters… I’ll be interested to see what the new eyes look like. It does change the personality quite a lot, doesn’t it?

    • It always amazes me how much a very tiny change – the position of a mouth, a slightly longer nose – can completely transform the characters I make. I was going to paint or embroider the eyes and was just marking their position with pins, but I liked the look of the pins so much that I started hunting online for some tiny eyes straight away! I just hope they work out, otherwise I think I’ll be on another hunt for some tiny black beads instead!

        • The special eyes have just arrived! They are tinier even than I expected, so the dolls might look a bit myopic! Might have to save them for another project perhaps….

  2. Loved those girls so much! Every outfit you make is different and cute..always amazes me! I can never pick out a favorite because each is so unique.
