doll time again…

four dolls in progress wearing bloomers and next to liberty fabricsYes, it’s doll time again! In other words, I’m currently making more dolls for superstar designer Sarah Campbell.

These beauties will be dressed in wonderful Liberty fabrics: Sarah and her sister Susan’s Cottage Garden design in new colourways and scales, some in silk and some in cotton, released to celebrate Liberty’s 150th anniversary.

Here’s what Liberty has to say about them:
Created by the prolific design duo Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell in 1974, Cottage Garden is a celebration of the sisters’ contribution to design within the British textile industry. Inspired by a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, Cottage Garden unfolds as a vibrant tapestry of summer blooms. Featuring roses, daisies, fuchsias, bluebells, and morning glory, this hand-painted, richly hued botanical was originally printed for Liberty furnishing fabrics from 1977 to the 1990s. Now on display at the Victoria and Albert museum library, the artwork has been revived exclusively for our AW25 anniversary collection as part of the final chapter, Collectibles. Offering a design for each decade, this timeline of hero prints encapsulates 150 years – exploring the design house’s varied and influential handwriting while honouring key moments of creativity and discovery.”

I absolutely love these fabrics!

This is the previous batch of dolls I made using these materials, together with antique linens and trims from Sarah’s own archives.
Firstly, as work in progress…

And the finished dolls…

The challenge now is to turn those blank dolls in bloomers in the top photo into another set of equally lovely girls, all deliciously dressed up in these fabrics.

I’ll let you know what I come up with!
