modflowers: textile art by Sue StoneAs is often the case these days, I stumbled across the above amazing bit of stitchery on Pinterest.

It, and the other works pictured in this post, are by the hugely talented Sue Stone.

Sue Stone2As a fan of old photographs and a lover of all types of stitchery, her work is obviously a huge hit with me.

I love the way she turns simple stitching techniques into something extraordinary.

As she says herself, her work “combines the real, the imagined, the remembered, and sometimes the nonsensical, with a slightly surreal sense of humour”.

As a perfect illustration of this, her blog is called Woman With A Fish.

And there’s just time to catch pieces from her Life on the Coast series in ‘Beside the Sea’, at Bilston Craft Gallery in Wolverhampton, until 14 June 2014. ♥
