something new

modflowers: new fabric!Every so often I do take a fancy to a bit of new fabric.

As opposed to the vintage variety that is my stock-in-trade.

Yesterday was one of those days.

I was in town, shopping.

I usually try to stay away from town and it’s temptations, but I needed supplies: sewing thread and bits to finish off a couple of pendants.

Whilst passing through John Lewis I spotted this piece of Amy Butler gorgeousness, on sale at half price…

modflowers: new fabricmodflowers: hopscotch fabric by Amy ButlerIt’s called Hopscotch, from Amy’s Cameo collection. As soon as I saw it I thought “that would make a lovely frock”.

A dress with a peter pan collar, I thought.  A neat, retro-styled, gamine-ish, flattering frock. So I bought enough to make myself one.

Which was before I looked on Amy Butler’s website – and spotted this picture!

So now I’m on the hunt for the perfect frock pattern.

If you think you’ve spotted one (whether vintage or new) do let me know! ♥

    • Ooh, thank you! You must have a lot of patterns!
I tried looking for the one I pictured from Amy Butler’s site, but that pattern doesn’t appear to be one of hers. Or maybe it’s been discontinued.

  1. It’s not a Peter Pan collar and it’s not vintage but you might want to consider the Coletterie Hawthorn pattern. She’s doing a sew a long too so you will get plenty of added advice in making the dress. x

      • You can use the short sleeves for the dress, that’s the beauty of the Colette patterns, everything is interchangeable. I have the Hazel dress pattern, hoping I’ll be able to make a wearable version in time for my holiday. 🙂
