totally tropical

modflowers: Tropics dolls family in Sarah Campbell Melodies fabrics for Michael MillerYou may remember I blogged recently about a doll that didn’t want to play nicely during construction.

Well, I’m happy to say that I did manage to rectify his recalcitrant ways successfully – and also, as you can see, to construct the rest of the naughty boy’s family.

Looks like butter wouldn’t melt now, eh?

modflowers: Tropics boy doll made with Sarah Campbell's Melodies fabrics for Michael MillerThe fabrics used to make the dolls are just wonderful – such vibrant colours!

All come from the second colour range “Tropics” of Sarah Campbell’s new Melodies fabrics for Michael Miller (the other colour range, from which I made the first doll family, is called “Jewels”.)

I even managed to make use of naughty boy’s rejected-as-too-short legs.

Here they are, much more in proportion, attached to the little girl of the family…

modflowers: Tropics girl dollThanks are due to Kate of Tall Tales from Chiconia for helping to crystallise my vision of this family with her comment about Hawaiian shirts, sarongs and board shorts.

So nice to have my own thoughts echoed back to me across t’interweb before I had even shared them!

So now it is onto the next challenge… getting sufficient stock made for modflowers next stall at The Secret Garden Craft Fair on June 20th.

  1. They’re *adorable*! Lovely boardies, rash vests, sarongs and leis. You’ve really captured the tropical vibe here – the colour combinations are so fresh and fun. I love that they’re tanned, too!
