just being

modflowers: Main Street, Langar, 1970s.I’ve had such a lovely weekend.

As well as lad’s birthday, we have been outdoors, camping with friends in their garden.

It was one of those legendary summer weekends where everything came together perfectly. Rain was forecast and it poured on the way there, but then the skies cleared.

We all brought food for a humungous party and barbecue. Around a dozen kids ran wild and got up to various types of mischief.

We ate homemade cake.

We told stories around the fire.

We went on a glow-stick-and-luminous-balloon-festooned night walk, through the fields. Watched by curious, silent sheep.

In the quiet of Sunday morning we wandered around the local hall’s ornamental lakes, amid fluttering damselflies, ripening apples and giant hogweed seedheads.

I think I loved it even more than the kids.

So much so, that I didn’t stop to take photographs. I didn’t think about blogging it. I just lived it.

It’s good to record memories for posterity.

But sometimes, it’s even better to just be. ♥

    • The glowstick and luminous balloon walk was fab Sue – you must do it! It was late enough to be dark, but that lovely summer dark where you can still see trees silhouetted against the faint light of the sky. I was towards the back of the party and to watch this procession of children and adults strung out in a long line across the field was just magical.
