little boxes

modflowers: little vintage fabric boxI’ve been trying out my idea for my buttons today.

It has involved more glueing. But having had success with the hair grips, I’m all glue-happy now (perhaps it’s just the fumes!)

This is my prototype. I decided to make just one first, to see how it works out.

But I couldn’t resist sharing a photo or two whilst waiting for the glue to dry…

modflowers: little vintage fabric boxThe buttons I made fit perfectly on the lid of the little box and the box itself will be covered in vintage fabric.

The pin is just a temporary measure for the photo, I’m waiting for the glue to dry on the lid before proceeding.

The little wooden boxes are tiny – just big enough to take a one inch pendant (also still under construction… to be completed with a chain and flower charm.)

They’ve left me with that song on the brain – “little boxes all made out of ticky-tacky”.

Well, there is a bit of ticky-tacky under the surface.

But hopefully, once I’ve perfected my prototype, they won’t look tacky when they’re done. ♥

  1. I, too, was going to suggest they are the perfect size for the tooth fairy! Would make a lovely kind of advent calendar too, with a tiny gift (or choc button) for each day x

    • Possibly a bit expensive as an advent calendar, as you’d need 24 of them! Perhaps little cardboard boxes (or upcycled matchboxes?) would be a good alternative.
The question is, when I sell them, should I put the little boxes in little boxes?!
