on the cards

vintage fabric greetings card by modflowersWhenever I have an event coming up I try to think of something new to put on my stall.

And I am always thinking about what sort of things I do, or would, buy from someone else.

My new idea for my stall on Saturday is vintage fabric greetings cards.

Well, it’s not really a new idea. I’m sure there are plenty of sellers of lovely handmade cards out there using vintage fabrics.

But the point is, I haven’t seen that many of them at the events I have attended. And when I do see them, I tend to buy at least one. So I thought others might do the same.

I’ve gone for the same design I used for the appliqué on my first skirt and also on the tags I used to make to put on my orders.

fabric flowers by modflowersgreetings cards flowers by modflowersI love these flowers – I just want to sew them onto everything…vintage fabric flowers by modflowers…but I stuck to putting them onto some rather nice scalloped-edge cards.

And I added a stamp on the back before putting them in little cellophane bags, so they look like real cards…

modflowers: greetings cards…because I was a bit worried they would look like something a child made at school.

Which would be endearing if it was your child that made it, but not so much if you had to part with money for them.

Time will tell. I’ll let you know after their debut on Saturday. ♥

  1. I really like them. And they don’t look like a child made them at all! I think you will do well with them. Good luck with the stall. x

    • I can’t claim to have made the lampshade from scratch, but I sort of embellished it. I sewed lots of little scraps to bias binding (like making bunting), then wound the result around an old cracked ikea shade!
