welcome home

modflowers: welcome home parcel!Coming home from holidays can be a dismal affair.

Admittedly, this time it’s not winter, I’m not leaving my family behind, and I’m very happy to be sleeping in a real bed again.

But still…

I’m finding it hard to get motivated this week.

So a parcel plopping through the letterbox was just the pick-me-up I needed to give a boost to the spirits.

modflowers: 129 twig and vineQuite a while back I stumbled across 129 Twig and Vine. I have been a follower of Sue’s posts from a west facing hill in central Vermont ever since.

I love reading about her artistic and artisanal endeavours. Growing stuff, making thoughtful food, and the pursuit of a creative life are just some of the interests we have in common.

We also happen to share a love of vintage fabrics… which is where my parcel comes in.

Because what arrived in the mail was a wonderful gift: a selection of goodies from Sue’s personal fabric cupboard.

And what goodies they are too!

Each one with a beautifully handwritten tag telling it’s own personal stash story…

modflowers: the contents of my parcel! There’s a fabulous napkin designed by one of my fabric heroes, Vera Neumann.

I have coveted owning a “Vera” for yonks, but they are rare beasts, especially here in England.

I absolutely love it’s faded perfection…

As does Sue herself. To whom a simply enormous THANK YOU goes out, for choosing to share her amazing stash with me.

I have been truly welcomed home.

My parcel made me realise the other thing I’d really missed whilst I was away…

No, not fabric…

Being connected to the rest of the world – and all the wonderful folk in it. ♥

    Happy fabric!

    • All thanks are due to you, Sue. The selection of fabrics is just breathtaking, let alone the fact that you sent them all the way across the pond!
And the little labels are inspired. As one of my facebook commenters noted – and I agreed – you have beautiful handwriting.
