a change of venue

Yesterday’s – and today’s – Pretty Dandy Flea experienced a little hitch…

The original venue in which the event was planned to take place had a problem. A big one. It failed its fire inspection 18 hours before the Flea was due to start.

Which meant that it couldn’t be used to host any events.

Which meant that Becky, the Flea organiser, had just one night to find a new place for the Flea to happen in.

Despite this being a flippin’ stressful occurrence to say the least, being the go-getter she is, Becky pulled this not-inconsiderable task off with spectacular aplomb.

So yesterday I found myself setting up shop in the back room of the ground floor retail premises at The Pod, otherwise known as the former Dwell shop on Fletcher Gate in Nottingham.

And I’ll be there again today.

But recently it has been put to good use to house the Nottingham Creative Quarter Pop Up Shop, a fantastic collaboration selling a selection of goodies from Nottingham creatives, overseen by local crafty business maven Debbie Bryan.

There was a very talented henna-painter opposite me, selling decorated candles:

There were also prints, bread, dovecotes, christmas decorations, cards, painted spoons, textiles, little girls’ dresses, photographs, stereos made from vintage suitcases (yes, really!) and loads more.

Including lots of lovely vintage. I was sorely tempted by this pan set for a fiver, but my cheffy other half (who does much of the cooking) would have just laughed at it:

I even had the spinsters themselves rummaging on my behalf!

Plus, there’s another chance for rummaging tomorrow…

So if you’re in Nottingham, come and see what you can unearth. The fun starts at 11am and goes on until 4.

Pop down to the pop up! ♥

  1. Seeing your stall just makes me happy inside. I just want to scoop up that pink owl (and a few dozen other things) and buy it! 😀 I hope you’re getting a decent number of sales. Best of luck! I’m impressed that Becky was able to pull that all off!

    • Yes, she is a pretty dandy individual!
But the venue change did affect sales I think, as the new place was not quite as conducive to people hanging out for ages – and then coming back to buy more.
