give me work to last me all of my life…

I’ve been busy for the past few weeks working on more dolls in hand painted fabrics by Sarah Campbell, with whom I collaborated on last summer’s Painted Treasures dolls which were exhibited and sold at Anthropologie in London’s Kings Road. I’ve just finished the above batch and sent them off to Sarah for her to sell on her website.

They seem to be proving quite popular over on Instagram – even more so than last year’s dolls for Sarah. I hope they sell well.

I so enjoy collaborating with other artists and makers – so I’ve just invited someone else to join me in another collaboration… Fingers crossed that it works out!

In addition, my lovely lad has just turned 18 and will be off to university in a few short weeks.

I am so glad of my creative urges at the moment. Otherwise, my nest would truly be empty.

It’s actually feeling pretty empty anyway – and he hasn’t even gone yet.

I have a feeling that I will be throwing myself into making lots of things over the next few weeks.

I need the distraction from worrying whether he is eating properly, hoping that he is making lots of new friends – and feeling like a part of my soul is missing. ♥

  1. Can’t believe your lad 18!!! I’ve been following you and your little boy on this blog for so long….I love the dolls and have three already xx

    • I can’t believe it either. And I think he’s struggling a bit with the reality that he will be actually leaving home in a couple of weeks time. Time has stood still during the past year and a half, but now it’s suddenly sped up.

  2. I’m so happy to hear that your chick is launching himself from the nest. Wonderful that the world has opened up enough to let it happen naturally. Of course you’re going to miss him terribly and worry about him, but you’ve raised him well. Please can we have more photos of your doll-making – I need a fix!

    • Ah, yes, I have somewhat neglected my blog of late, haven’t I? I have been posting elsewhere, mainly on Instagram, although even that has lapsed recently. I’ve just fallen a bit out of love with posting things, even when I’ve had stuff to post. I am aiming to take myself in hand and get busy though. Got to have something to do with myself once I no longer have smelly teenager’s socks to wash or endless washing up to keep me busy!

      • I have to say, that last sentence cracked me up! Dependent creatures, whether human or animal, do give a bit of structure to the day, don’t they? And I don’t want to pressure you, but I do love the doll photos…. Whenever you have time.
