giving in

swedish fabric

Since I got back from Australia with a lovely big stash of brand new holiday fabrics, I have been trying to be good.

I didn’t buy any fabric to make my skirt. (Well, not if you don’t count the trim).

And although I have been sorely tempted, I have managed to resist buying fabric in any of the numerous sales that January brings.

But I have to confess, my willpower dissolved the minute I saw this.

swedish fabricThat’s the thing with vintage fabrics – you can’t hang about, or they’re gone. And who knows when you’ll see that design again. Maybe never.

Consequently, it probably comes as no surprise that the beauty above is at this very moment winging its way to me from Sweden.

Well, once the will is broken it is hard to stop…

Especially when a classic turns up on ebay and nobody else seems to have noticed…

Banbury fabric by Colleen Farr

Somehow, I’m not quite sure how it happened, this pair of curtains in Colleen Farr’s pretty Banbury pattern are also soon to be mine.

To ensure I make best use of them, I have a stash of new rectangular cushion pads on their way too. Well, they were on special offer.

And a new roll of zip, a necessity as I had nearly run out.

So I’m all set up now. I’m glad I gave in.

Cushion covers, anyone? 🙂

  1. What a seriously good haul! I think it’s okay to be swayed with vintage as like you say, once it’s gone you’ve possibly no chance of ever finding them again. Looking forward to seeing your new cushion collection! x

    • The colors of the fabrics mixed with the colors on your site are so inspiring. I get excited and just want to leave the page open to see that all day. I love fabrics and have a collection from Indonesia. They just sit in a pile where I can see them though because I can never bring myself to cut them to create anything else!

      • Thank you kelsheets!
I know that feeling about fabrics. There is currently a pile of cushions in my living room from when I was photographing them the other day, I should have put them away, but instead have just left them there as they look so pretty all together!
