label lust

modflowers: Oooh! Manolos!I am not normally a coveter of designer labels.

I don’t even look at them usually, to be honest.

Give me a bit of cheap Crimplene, or a rail full of 1960s floral frocks and I am more than happy.

High maintenance I am not.

But I am something of a sucker for shoes… especially bargain vintage 1960s-style ones.

I darn-near swooned at the Manolo Blahnik selection pictured above, which I spotted in Harrods before Christmas. The colours, the shape, the beautiful embellishment, the exquisite craftsmanship… well. Just too nice for words.

The downside was that owning a pair would have involved selling either my house, or possibly an internal organ, to pay for them. That, and I just can’t walk in high heels.

So when a pair of genuine Manolos turned up in the sale the other day at Nottingham vintage emporium A Vintage Obsession whilst browsing with my sis, I actually noticed them.

modflowers: Nottingham vintage shop A Vintage ObsessionThey had low kitten heels, and I could see that they would look lovely worn with coloured or woollen tights to accompany a Crimplene frock.

And, above all, they were only £30.

So I bought them.

modflowers: manolo blahnik shoesAdmittedly, they’re not quite the bejewelled beauties on offer for a king’s ransom in Harrods.

But even designer label fledgling that I am, I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Or leave a pair of bargain Manolos on the shelf. ♥

  1. You did really well to get your hands on these and with a tea dress they will look great.
I in fact own a pair of the one’s in your top picture in blue (Sex and the City shoes) and it was a 6 months waiting list. Then when they did come in I had 48 hours to collect them or they went to the next person on the list. They where a lot more than £30!
