stash stories ♥ day eleven

stash stories11.2Today is day eleven in my series of stash stories. A fabric a day from my stash, with it’s story.

Number eleven is a fabric that was an impulse buy…

Over a year ago, I took some cushions to sell in a local vintage emporium called Lu-Lou’s, in Sherwood.

The shop had a lovely vibe about it and my cushions fitted in very nicely.

modflowers: stash storiesAfter a time Clare, the owner, decided to give up the shop when she was pregnant with her second child. I went down to collect my takings and my remaining stock.

Well, the takings were burning a hole in my pocket.

So I spent them immediately on fabrics, which were reduced in the closing down sale!

Of which this was one…

stash storiesI really wasn’t sure about it when I bought it. It’s a synthetic mix with a bit of stretch in it, quite thick. The only way I can describe it is as sort of half way between crimplene and cotton.

But it was bright, and unusual colours, and cheap as chips, so it came home with me.

And then, when I started making pendants, I found myself looking for a fabric to make a string to complement the button at the front in this picture:

But my fabric from Lu-Lou’s came up trumps.

As this lovely photo from owl pendant purchaser Zoe Power shows…

modflowers: stash storiesIt just goes to show that with vintage fabrics, you never know.

They might hang around in the stash for a while, but some day their time will come. ♥
