unpacking the spoils

holiday fabrics

I have been busy since arriving home.

So much jet lag to struggle against! So much holiday washing and ironing to get through! So many summer clothes to put away! 🙁

So it was a welcome relief to get the iron out for something pleasant instead.

My holiday fabric purchases! Aren’t they lovely?

If you followed my Aussie adventures via Instagram, you may have witnessed my excitement at our visit to the Australian fabric heaven known as Spotlight. En route to the beach one hot, hot day, we sidetracked and spent an all-too-short hour there.

The place was packed to its tin roof with just about everything any self-respecting crafty type could imagine they ever needed – and more besides.

But as you can see, I spent my entire hour in the fabric department.

I even found a fabric not dissimilar to my kitchen wallpaper. So of course, I just had to buy some:

spot the difference - blue = wallpaper, red = fabric!

None of it is vintage of course, but I didn’t let that stop me. There was just too much gorgeousness to resist. I could’ve spent all day in there.

Oh, how my family laughed as I wafted about, hyperventilating!

Plus, it was a lot cheaper than at home. So whilst emptying my purse, I could feel just a little virtuous at all the money I was actually saving. 😉

My final purchase was an impulse buy at the checkout, just as the store was closing.

I didn’t really need a new tape measure…

pull it's ear to extract the measuring tape!

…but I bet you would’ve succumbed too, wouldn’t you? 🙂

  1. Oh how lovely … hyperventilate … I think I would have passed out … I love them especially the bird one … no surprises there 🙂 … Bee xx

  2. Soooo gorgeous!! I recognise a few of those prints from Pinterest…I would have been hyperventilating too! Glad you’ve got them to cheer you up – and that tape measure is just too cute for words. xx

    • I was most impressed with the selection actually! Yes, there were a lot of synthetics, and the stuff specifically aimed at quilters was more expensive, but I could easily have added another half dozen or more lovely cotton fabrics to the trolley. And I didn’t even have time to browse the buttons, trims, haberdashery or homewares!
