let down

modflowers old stock saleSo just time for a quick post today.

I spent far too much of yesterday hoovering, tidying, scrubbing, mopping, wiping, painting over those nasty scuffs on the walls and finding places to stash our generously-strewn belongings.

And then I sat down to wait for the man from the estate agent to come and tell me what our home is worth.

And I waited. And waited. And then I called, because I thought it was odd that they hadn’t called me to say that they had been delayed.

And instead of apologising, he said that he had rung me several times. And that he must have the wrong number for me. And that he had had another appointment, at the office. And that as I had made my appointment over a week ago, and he had been unable to reach me, he had gone to this other appointment instead.

Well.

I was not pleased, I can tell you. A week of scrubbing and tidying can do that to you.

I thought that an apology might have been in order. And so, whilst he was fetching his diary, I made a decision.

When he offered to come on Thursday instead, I said that I thought that if they couldn’t get this right, I thought that I would find someone else to help us sell our house.

And I did. They’re coming tomorrow.

If they show up, that is.

In the meantime, I have posted the details of my clear-out sale on Facebook, here. ♥

  1. I wouldn’t be pleased either. He knew the address and your name. Surely he could do what the rest of us would, and check in the phone book? Lazy little toe-rag. Good for you, choosing someone more helpful and hopefully proactive. All you have to do now is preserve the unnatural state of order and cleanliness for a couple of days…. You can do it!

    • Absolutely! That’s exactly what I thought, especially since it was their mistake in writing down my number wrongly in the first place. Or he could have just turned up to the appointment anyway, having been unable to cancel it!
      I don’t really have any problem keeping the place tidy for a couple of days (although it is hampering my ability to get on with making new stock a bit), but if I had to keep up this level of tidiness for any longer than a week I think I would end up insane!
