stash stories ♥ day seven

modflowers: stash storiesTime for the seventh in my series of stash stories. Something for the sunny summer days.

A fabric a day from my stash, with it’s story.

Number seven is a fabric that was the opposite of yesterday’s, in that it was better than I expected it to be.

This turquoise number is probably a polycotton rather than a pure cotton, but it is lovely and bright and fresh, totally unused and a joy to work with, unlike many cotton/synthetic mixes.

I have made many things with this stuff. You’ll probably recognise some of them.

Cushions…modflowers: bordered star cushionsJewellery…

modflowers: birdie broochmodflowers: silver pendantsAnd bunting…

bunting packs1Amongst other things.

And I fully expect to utilise it again soon.

In some ways, fabrics can be like people.

Some of them are hard to work with and demand all the attention for themselves. Whereas others just get on with it and fit in and don’t complain.

modflowers: stash storiesThis one is very easy to live with.

And it also looks lovely, even when it’s doing nothing more important than just hanging around. ♥

  1. I’m loving this series! You know I’ve often had the same reactions to opening parcels of fabric…disappointment, or pleasant surprise. You just can’t beat that ‘I’m so glad I bought this one’ feeling! Hope you’re having a great holiday. xx

  2. This is definitely my favourite so far too… Loving both the fabrics in the last image!
I had a disappointment piece arrive this week huge open weave flaws through out and a stain, excitement turned to flatness. I did get a refund but it isn’t the same really.
I did get a vibrant piece that I think is probably Boras…. but if you fancy selling a bit of that blues/ turquoiseor even swapping for it on your return that would be fab… Enjoy your holiday… Cass x

  3. I agree that your analogy of fabric being like people is great! This is one of my favourite pieces and I was really pleased to read you were pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Hope you’re enjoying your holiday!
